Participants are asked to spontaneously report everything that goes through their minds while doing a task, and they are instructed not to interpret or analyze their thinking. Camtasia and Zoom could be useful tools to capture and record participants’ voice and behaviors when they try performing a set of specific tasks related to digital artifacts and platforms. You can also upload the video to MacVideo to proceed the transcription and captions.

Participants of focus group discussion are provided with digital white boards to present their ideas, concepts, or tasks with text and images around a specific key word or idea. Jamboard, Padlet, and Miro could be great tools to support the interaction among different participants. They are able to comment on the evolving mind map and suggest amendments or additions.

Survey is a popular way to collect data for your research. Tools like LimeSurvey, Microsoft forms, Google forms, and REDCap are free to use to collect the first-hand data from your participants.

Students with a range of backgrounds may be interested in working with faculties, instructors, and staff as partners on projects that contribute to the enhancement of teaching and learning. Students may serve as co-author, co-presenters for the publications in journals and conferences. Learn more about student partners program.
